Cynthia's Favorite Vegan Things for March

Time flies! I was sure the last Favorite Things post was in February, but it was January. Sorry, February. You are, after all, a short month. No worries, the lapse gave me time to find more vegan things to love. First up, fake fish.

1. Sophie's Kitchen: Breaded Vegan Fish Fillets 


This isn't a post on how over-fishing has caused a whole host of environmental problems, or how a recent study found that 84% of all fish have unsafe levels of mercury, or how overcrowded fish farms have led to the overuse of antibiotics in fish in order to combat unsanitary conditions. Or how switching to a vegan seafood alternative can remedy those issues. No, this is a post about how much I love Sophie's Kitchen, a plant-based seafood frozen food alternative. The fish sticks are amazing. Same with the crab cakes. The scallops I couldn't eat because they tasted too real. My fiancé, a vegan, who eats sushi a few times a year, loves the scallops, however. Sophie's kitchen makes crab cakes, calamari, fish fillets, prawns, shrimp, and the very real tasting and texture-like scallops.

2. Follow Your Heart : Vegenaise Tartar Sauce


Follow Your Heart started 40 years ago in the Valley of Los Angeles with a vegetarian sandwich shop. (And it's still thriving!) They soon branched out to make their own vegan mayonaise calling it Veganaise. I'm pretty sure I've posted about it before. It's a staple for sandwiches and recipes in our house. Their tarter sauce is just as delicious, and great with Sophie's Kitchen seafood. You can find Follow Your Heart products at Whole Foods.

3. Gabriel Cosmetics: Nail Polish


I grabbed this nail polish scurrying through Whole Foods a few weeks ago. Best nail polish ever. Hands down. ;) This nail polish is a miracle. It does not chip. I don't know what's in it that makes it so long-lasting, besides all natural, non-toxic, formaldehyde-free stuff. Gabriel's cosmetics and skin care products are 100% natural, using plant oil, extracts, and botanicals. All products are fragrance-free, gluten-free, non-allergenic, and vegan. I can't wait to try more!
